Patricia Hammond is a mezzo-soprano with wide-ranging gifts. Her meltingly lyrical voice is as comfortable in Bach and Handel as it is in her beloved nostalgic songs.
Patricia’s lifelong interest in Victorian, Edwardian, 1920s, 30s and 40s songs is celebrated with an exciting new 18-track CD Our Lovely Day, released in December 2011, which follows the buzz created by her appearance on BBC Radio 4′s Midweek singing “Love’s Old Sweet Song”. Her revival of the sentimental favourites of the past has spearheaded a re-evaluation of these lovely songs that so vividly evoke a calmer, simpler world.
